The Way You Walk 2010

The Way You Walk takes the artist back to places in Nairobi, where she spent several years as a child. She immerses herself in the world of the expatriates, the international specialists who work for NGOs or – as her own parents did – the UN, and investigates the contradictions between their idealistic goals and the reality of their life and work. The video is set at, among other locations, the United Nations Office at Nairobi, the UN headquarters in Africa. A Kenyan UN employee, a Finnish architecture researcher and a German employed at a Kenyan government office talk about the city of Nairobi. They reflect on the way people behave in private and public spaces.
